Honours Golf began in 1998 as a partnership built on the love of the game...golf. The company was founded by golf industry veteran Bob Barrett and Rob Shults, and together they had one goal - to create golf courses which provide something more than just an ordinary round of golf - an experience that would be talked about for years. Their vision was simple...provide award-winning golf courses with exceptional golf course conditions, hire dedicated team members who share a passion for golf, and deliver impeccable personalized service. They based the foundation of their company on the shared philosophy - golf is more than a game. They believe golf builds character, instills core values, and brings friends, family and colleagues together in friendship and honorable competition. For these reasons, they named the company "Honours" after the values for which it stands.
Honours Golf signed its first golf course management contract in December 1998 for Highland Park Golf Course, the oldest golf course in Alabama. Later that month, the company signed a management contract with Kelly Plantation Golf Club located in Destin, Florida. Between 1999 to 2000, the company purchased Rock Creek Golf Club in Fairhope, Alabama, Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club in Gulf Shores, Alabama and the World Golf Village Courses - King & Bear and Slammer & Squire in St. Augustine, Florida.
Today, Honours Golf Company, with corporate offices in Birmingham, Alabama and Atlanta, Georgia, is the leading golf course development and management company in the Southeast. The company has plans to grow the Honours Golf brand in the Southeast through management contracts, development partnerships and whole ownership.
